It’s official!
Carrie is now a Certified Sports Medicine Acupuncture Specialist!
We’re super excited to announce that Carrie is now a “C.SMA”
after completing an intensive, 250+ hour sports and orthopedic training
in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment
of musculoskeletal pain.
Carrie’s instructor, Matt Callison, L.Ac.
was one of the first acupuncturists in the United States
to map the locations of motor nerve entry points
and determine how to needle them.
Every muscle has at least one entry point,
which is where a motor nerve enters the body of the muscle.
The training involved many hours of work with human cadavers
to learn the exact location, depth, and needle angle
for each motor nerve entry point.
Carrie also learned the Sports Medicine Acupuncture®
postural evaluation system.
Posture analysis reveals hidden muscular imbalances
that contribute to pain.
Specific motor nerve entry points are needled
according to the results of the posture analysis,
to strengthen weak muscles and relax tight muscles.
Carrie will be needling motor nerve entry points
in the community and private treatments she provides.
In the private sessions,
she will target motor entry points on the spine, neck, back, hips, chest, and abdomen.
In the community sessions,
she can add motor nerve entry points on the arms and legs.
According to the results of the postural analysis,
Carrie will prescribe easy at-home exercises
that maintain the results of the acupuncture treatments.
You can easily combine private and community treatments together in your treatment plan.
If you are interested in having a posture evaluation
and learning some simple postural exercises,
